Short description : Casa Howard is not a hotel. Each Casa is a beautiful private house, whether an apartment, palazzo or farmhouse, which offers personal service with some typical hotel services.
Staying here is similar to staying in a friend’s private house. As guests, you get the keys to the house, you enjoy the original furniture and amenities, and you can feel the atmosphere of the bursting hearth of the town.
Casa Howard (Florence) is a registered property (Residenza d'Epoca), located just 120 metres from the Santa Maria Novella Railway Station and 80 metres from Piazza S. M. Novella.
The hotel has retained all of the original flooring and ceilings, and most works of art and amenities belong to the owner's family in order to fully demonstrate the Casa Howard concept: Very high standard houses aimed to host special people.
Cancelation Policy : Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children and Extra Bed Policy: Children cannot be accommodated at the hotel.
All children under 2 years are charged EUR 20.00 per night and person for cots.
There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.
Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged.
VAT and city/tourist taxes: VAT is included.
Service charge is included.
City/tourist tax is included.
Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge.
Meal Plan: Breakfast is not included and cost EUR 15.00 per person.
Parking: Secured parking is possible on streets nearby and reservation is needed costs EUR 25.00 per day .
Pets: Pets are allowed on request. No extra charges.
Room Information : Many rooms have working fireplaces, some have private terraces and it is possible to combine rooms to have a complete private suite.
A real Turkish bath, a library and a winter garden all contribute to ensure a comfortable stay for the most exigent of guests.
One room is for smokers, the other for guests with small dogs, and there is even one for people traveling with young children (sound-proofed and with a Walt Disney video-library) that has a special wall for them to play free-climbing!
Expect an intimate & luxurious Florence accommodation, a fantastic location by the Santa Maria Novella Basilica, unusually designed rooms and a classy private service.
When available we place fresh flowers in room. They come from our garden in Frascati, just outside Rome
In the summer Mint Soaps & in the winter Pomegranate Soaps. We are the only Guesthouse that the Officina Profumo di Santa Maria Novella in Florence provides liquid soaps to. Pomis stones from Filicudi (Aeolian Islands - Sicily) are in your bathroom
Tired from walking the Art Cities of Italy? A private Turkish Hammam (or Steam Bath) awaits you at Casa Howard.
Casa Howard Florence has a large Turkish bath (maximum 5 people). It is for exclusive use 24/24 when you stay in the Garden Room and have booked it in advance (+ Euro 200 per day), or when you rent all the apartment. If the apartment is not booked, or other Guests haven't reserved it, the Turkish bath can be used at the cost of Euro 100.
Suites up to 3 bedrooms are available on request. For staying longer than 5 days, the owner's apartment is available on request.
All our rooms in Rome and Florence are no smoking, with the exception of the Camel Room in Florence.
Travel Information : When you get to Florence, take The " Viali " and get in the restricted area from the “Stazione di Santa Maria Novella” (follow the signs). You will pass the station on your left and following the traffic flow you’ll get to the lights of via della Scala. Turn left. We are at Via della Scala, 18, left side; in front of us there is a bar called Sandra e Claudio.

Breakfast
If you choose to have breakfast at Casa Howard it will be served to you in your bedroom. Breakfast consists of a freshly squeezed orange juice, home made jam and honey (from our Tuscan farm) and freshly baked cake and hot cornetti (croissant). Breakfast is served in Ginori china, and tea in Indian glasses.
The breakfast at the Florence Guesthouse costs 15 Euro per person.
If you rather have breakfast in a café ('bar' in Italian) there are many just round the cornerfrom all three guesthouses.
Hotel Information : Trust Concept
"Clients known by the the owners or introduced by previous guests have a priority booking channel. Word of mouth is the way we do it". This is why (if you book a room at Casa Howard through an agency) we ask you to recommend Casa Howard to your friends.
Friends of friends are people we can trust and this is why we give you a key and access to refreshments, just help yourself in the fridges. There is a form where you can write down what you have taken and pay us on your departure. D.O.C wines (red and white) are also available from Siena (Tuscany).
House Keepers (or House-Genies)
Meet Cristy, the head house keeper, or Edgar, the house keeper of Via Sistina, and Bernie and Virginia the house keepers of the Florence Guesthouse. They have been trained in-house and will bring you breakfast & fresh flowers when available, arrange dinner reservations, car hire, masseurs, personal shopping guides, babysitting, laundry, dry-cleaning and anything else you can think of...
As guests, you get the keys of the house (just in case you come in late).
Important Information : A deposit will be required for your booking. We can not accept bookings without a down-payment, and without confirmation of such a payment (via fax) should you not have a credit card we accept.
Invoices must be requested before payment is completed!
Small dogs are allowed.
We have an agreement with International garage, they charge around EUR 20,00 (delivery included)
All of our houses have ADSL WI FI connection, should you need to surf the web with your laptop.
A PC with ADSL Internet is also available at the entrance in Via Capo le Case, in Via Sistina and in Florence.
