Short description : An entirely new genre of hotel - one that will change the game again and raise the bar. The Gramercy Park Hotel's Haute Bohemian heritage has been honored and renewed in the transformation by Ian Schrager. It is still the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City but better! It represents a sensuous vision of artful diversity. Bohemia reinvented for the 21st century with an original combination of styles, with great pieces of furniture and art and the extraordinary use of color. The hotel rooms are complemented by the incredible public spaces, including the private Roof Club and Garden, located 16 stories above the city with retractable roof. An original and unique indoor and outdoor space, with custom furniture and a rare display of 20th century masterpieces from renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst is exclusive for guests of the hotel. A fine dining Chinese Restaurant, Wakiya, along with the Rose Bar and Jade Bar make this property unlike any other.

Food & Beverages : Wakiya, at Gramercy Park Hotel, is fine dining Chinese Restaurant in Manhattan specializing in authentic Chinese cuisine. It is characterized by unique regional flavors and methods of cooking simply not found in any other Chinese restaurant in America today. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, Chinese high tea, dinner and late night cocktails and is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Wakiya is now serving a unique Dim Sum Brunch, weekends from 11:30a-2:30p. Full lunch service begins January 2008. Guests are welcomed daily to enjoy a full American Breakfast menu. The Rose Bar and Jade Bar are two of the most original and exciting public spaces in New York City. These incredible candlelit spaces are unique atmospheres imbued with the same spontaneous, haute bohemian, eclectic, eccentric and edgy sophistication one would find in an artist’s studio or home. The private Roof Club and Garden is available for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, sunset cocktails or supper. Exclusively for guests of the hotel, the Roof Club can be accessed by private keyed off elevator.

Region Information : Lexington Avenue ends at the sanctuary of Gramercy Park, where the scale of the buildings, the concentration of landmarks and absence of a through avenue has made Gramercy Park New York’s most village-like neighborhood. The entire neighborhood is alive with legend and history. Astors, Morgans, Rockefellers and Roosevelts lived here. These are streets that were walked by Washington Irving, Walt Whitman, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain and Edith Wharton, a presence that has not been banished by time. Everything one needs is within walking distance. You can walk to the East Village or the West Village, to Union Square, the Lower East Side, Soho, Noho and the hip boutiques and restaurants of Nolita. It’s a healthy stroll directly across town to the art galleries of Chelsea and the Meat Market.

Room Information : The bold, individualistic spirit of the public spaces at the Gramercy Park Hotel is carried on into the 185 guest rooms and suites here in Manhattan. They are generously scaled and beautifully appointed. Each is different with its own unique layout, vivid Renaissance color palette inspired by Raphael and distinctive collection of art and objects. Imported hand tufted rugs with deep rose velvet drapery on custom bronze rods create a beautiful palette with the mahogany window enclosures and wooden blinds. Curated photographs and unique pieces of furniture inspired by a myriad of cultures and styles are juxtaposed with original creations by Julian Schnabel and Maarten Baas.
