Region Information : The Vale of Belvoir is situated on the Nottinghamshire / Leicestershire border and is encompassed by Grantham, Melton Mowbray and Bingham. Belvoir is one of the smallest hamlets in the Vale and is dominated by Belvoir Castle, which is home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland.
The name Belvoir means ‘beautiful view’, and dates back to the Norman times. A man called Robert de Todeni who was a standard bearer to William the Conqueror built the first castle on the site and it was he who was supposed to have named the castle ‘Belvoir’.
Places of interest within the Vale include Belvoir Castle, Harlaxton Manor, The Wild Flower Farm at Langar, and Wymondham Windmill. Another famous village is Colston Basset, most famous for its Stilton cheese.
Hotel Information : We also cater for special events, conferences and weddings, providing all the facilities you need for a successful day as well as accommodation for longer events.
Food & Beverages : The tastefully refurbished, non-smoking restaurant offers an inviting and comfortable ambiance for all. The menu, prepared by our brigade of trained chefs, varies from a lunchtime light-bite menu, to a full à la carte menu in the evenings. A home-cooked Sunday carvery is served every week, where children are more than welcome.
