Hotel Information : Our house opened its gates in february 2000. and since then we provide wide services for our guests, our experiences which we gained during this time help us to realise our purpose, satisfying our guests in a high quality and in an intimate surroundings.
Through the pleasent internal yard, which is decorated with discreet flowers, our guests get to intimate atmosphered, comfortable rooms.
Pets are allowed, but we have to charge an additional Ft 4500 ( app. EUR 17,- / day).
Short description : Walking in the historical downtown of Győr under the 18 th century baroque styled buildings we can find the Fonte Hotel and Restaurant which was developed from the former civil town house. The house was named after a well, which was found and restored into the original state during the renovation of the building and it is placed in the banqueting hall.
Travel Information : Our hotel is located in the historical downtown of Győr, in the neighbourhood of the National Theatre, and the area is free from heavy traffic! If you arrive by car please, go along Kisfaludy Street, which is parallel to Schweidel Street in order to reach the hotel.
Győr can be found half way between Győr and Budapest.
* If you come by car on the M1 motorway, from Vienna (120 km) take the exit Győr-Center, from Budapest (120 km) follow the sign Győr , these are the shortest ways to our Hotel Fonte.
* If you come by train or bus you can use various international sevices.
The train and bus station is only couple of minutes away.
* The nearest international airport is Vienna-Schwehat (100 km) or Budapest-Ferihegy (135km), the nearest regional airport is Győr-Pér (25 km).
* 30 km from the Hotel is one of Europe's meaningful cycling way, along the river Duna, which connects numerous countries.

Region Information : Győr is to be found in the North-Westen part of Hungary, in the heart of Kisalföld it rises out like an island, where the three rivers (Rába, Rábca, Mosoni-Duna) meet. It is inhabited since the ancient times, during the Roman times it was called Arrabona, although originally it was a Celtic settlement. It always played a central role due to its natural and other conditions. At the time of István the First (round 1000) a bishopric and a bailiff of estate was put up on this place, then in 1271 István the Fifth gave privilege to the settlement.
It became important in 1529 in the point of the militar , at this time the town was burned up and became it's new name from the Turk: Janik-Kala = Burnt town.
After the Turkish danger Italian masterbuilders gave a new aspect to Győr in an old renaissance style, which style labels we can still see.
Due to it's geographical placing commercially it became more and more important.
At the end of the 17th century it was written down /known as the most beautiful baroque town in Europe.
In the 1753 Mária Terézia rose the today's county town on the rank of a free royal town.
In the 19th century industrial upswing and then the change of regime gave once more a rate of progress to the town. Győr has a double aspect thanks to it's historical past and favourable conditions.
The double aspect comes out in it's intimate historical downtown - with renovated houses and narrow streets - but also in it's importance in the developed industrial and commercial center of the Middle-Easten Europe.
