Perama beach is located on the idyllic east coast of Corfu and is surrounded by undulating hills that stand like a sentinel on the far horizon.
It is a mere 10 minutes drive from Corfu town and is set in the midst of the Kanoni peninsular region which is connected via a slender land bridge that is very much a popular walking trail. The path meanders along the coastal road and if one takes the trouble of hitting this particular trail, one can rest assured of lush green hills and numerous verdant coves down under.
The best part of holidaying in Perama is that it is quiet and peaceful. Not much noise and perfect place to unwind. It is more of a hideaway beach than anything else. There are a few bars and traditional taverns that are much preferred by tourists.
It is here that that the renowned Marine Biologist Gerald Durrell first came across Corfu’s rich marine underwater life which uncovered undiscovered aquatic species. They can still be found here even after so many years of Durrell’s discovery. For the adventure lovers, the Perama beach is ideal for indulging in an exciting session or two of Snorkelling. The water here is crystal clear and one can have a date with the fascinating underwater creatures.
