Short description : Hotel Inglés is one of the traditional hotels in Madrid. Opened in 1886, is situated less than 300 meters from Puerta del Sol, the cultural, shopping and amusement centre of Madrid. Hotel Inglés is at the moment one of the oldest hotels in Madrid and still situated inside the same building.
The hotel was opened in 1886 century and it was for the city like a very important social event, it was one of the more modern hotels in the city.

Hotel Information : Since the beginnings of the 20th Century and right through the second decade, the Hotel Inglés and its renowned restaurant (which is now the car park) was the rendezvous of politicians, artists and high society. Among other celebrities, we can mention Martínez Campos, Fernando Primo de Rivera, Alberto Aguilera, Juan de la Cierva; academics such as José de Echegaray, Núñez de Arca, Gabriel Miró, Alvarez Quintero brothers, Virginia Woolf; musicians such as Tomás Bretón, Sarasate, Chueca, Barbiere and a great number of reporters and businessmen.
More recently, we have opened our doors to the Spanish Prime Minister D. José Luis Zapatero, who was a guest when serving as a Member of the Parliament.
In 1987, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Madrid, granted a certification to Hotel Inglés, as a centenary business, in recognition of its excellent service to the tourism industry of our city.
