Room Information : We have a range of accommodation to suit your needs, from single to American king-size beds, through to family rooms. Each have central heating, colour TV, tea and coffee making facility, hair dryer etc. Hypo-allergenic duvets and pillows can be provided. All our rooms are well decorated and furnished and all have en-suite toilet and shower. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Please note: If you require a four-poster you must specify on booking and there is an additional charge.

Cancelation Policy : Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later, the first night will be charged. All of the spacious, well-proportioned bedrooms have been retained in keeping with the Victorian style of the building and are all tastefully decorated throughout. Surpassing even the most discerning visitor's expectations for the ultimate in comfort and accommodation, every room is non-smoking and has en-suite facilities, as well as colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and radio alarm clock.

Food & Beverages : Your host, Susie's primary hobby is cooking and Barony House guests can expect a real Scottish breakfast every morning. Begin the day with your own choice of cereals, yogurts, fruit, porridge or, for the larger appetite, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns and eggs. She and her husband Leonard, have a wide knowledge of local restaurants and eateries, theatres, leisure facilities and places of interest and will gladly help you plan a memorable stay in Scotland. Naturally, there is tea and she only serves freshly ground coffee. Special dietary requirements are also catered for.

Region Information : Our guesthouse is close to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the historic New Town, Princes Street and the Royal Mile. It is handy for the many venues during Edinburgh Festival and Fringe and also Edinburgh's military tattoo. If you wish to play golf, or explore the beauty of the Scottish countryside you do not have to travel far to enjoy these pursuits.

Travel Information : By Car: From the South (M6/A74): - From the A74 take the A702 at Abington services through Biggar, which will bring you onto the A720 city bypass. - Go round both roundabouts and join the bypass where signposted Edinburgh South & East. - Leave the bypass at the 1st junction marked Straiton Junction, join the A701 and follow the signs for the city centre. - After 2.5 miles (4 km) you will come to a large junction with traffic lights. Go straight over on to Craigmillar Park. - 800 metres further on you will see Barony House on the right. From the South (M1): - Take the A68 from Scotch Corner, through Jedburgh and Dalkeith. - After Dalkeith, the road will merge with the A7 where you follow the city centre signs. - When nearing the city centre, you will approach a large roundabout under a rail bridge. Take the 2nd exit (signed for city centre A701 and Newington) and then turn right onto Craigmillar Park. - 800 metres further on you will see Barony House on the right. Alternatively: - Take the A1 round the coastal route and join the A720 city bypass as you approach the city. - Leave the bypass at the 1st junction (Sheriffhall Roundabout) and join the A7, signposted Edinburgh, where it merges with the A68. Continue on as outlined above. From Glasgow: - The M8 Motorway now terminates at a roundabout known as the Edinburgh Interchange. - On the roundabout, take the 3rd exit signposted for Edinburgh South & East and join the A720 city bypass. - Continue on the bypass until Straiton junction, then leave the bypass and join the A701 as for M6 traffic. From the North (M90): - Follow signs for the city centre, Princes Street, Berwick Upon Tweed (A1) and the East which will take you along Queen Street. - Go right at the roundabout and up Leith Street, keeping John Lewis on your right. - Go straight on at the the traffic lights and left onto North Bridge, keeping the New Balmoral Hotel on your right. - Continue straight on until the road becomes Minto Street, then Mayfield Gardens. - Barony House is number 23, on the left. Alternatively: - Follow the signs for the city bypass and proceed as for Glasgow arrivals. This route, although slightly longer, avoids all city confusion. From Edinburgh Airport: - Follow the A8 trunk road to the Edinburgh Interchange. - Follow signs for the A720 Berwick and South, then continue as above (from Glasgow). By Rail: - Exit from Waverley Station by the road entrance, turning right up onto Princes Street. Cross over to the shops side for buses numbered 3, 29, 31 and 49, travelling east. The bus will immediately turn right onto North Bridge. Travel along the main route until the shops finish and hotels/guest houses start to appear. Exit onto Mayfield Gardens, outside the The Glenfield House Hotel. Barony House is next door. Bus journeys should take around 10 minutes.
