HOUSE FACILITIES
We (Paul and John) bought MW Guesthouse in early 2008 and we've had a fantastic season - check out the incredible reviews on Trip Adviser and Scottish Accommodation Index. Now the time has come for us to impart some of our style and personality to the guesthouse and rebrand it as 94DR.
Sumptuous suites, luxurious bathrooms and beautiful public spaces will feature in what will become one of Edinburgh's most stylish guesthouse.
We have created a space where a combination of tradition, locality and modernity in design creates the art of simple luxury.
What hasn't changed is the exceptionally high level of service. You will find us efficient, courteous, warm and friendly and willing to respond to your every need
Room Information : 94DR combines excellent service with innovative design in a laid back atmosphere. And our idea behind it was to create a small friendly place with a big personality.
94DR is located in a central Edinburgh Victorian townhouse, the building offers 6 3/4 en-suite rooms, with rates ranging from £70 to £180 per night (pending on season) that includes full gourmet breakfast (Paul is a trained chef and creates a daily changing breakfast menu using the finest and freshest local ingredients) Together with use of laidback lounge and breakfast room.
Each room is en-suite some with roll-top baths all with power showers and white company toiletries. The rooms also include: crisp white bed linen, down duvets and pillows, comfy beds, hairdryers, wifi, mineral water and coffee and tea making facilities. All rooms have flat screen TVs and DVD players, (a selection of DVD’s and cd's are available from reception for your viewing and listening pleasure
There are six and three quarter individually styled bedrooms.
In the house the front-facing rooms have panoramic views over Salisbury Craggs and Arthur’s Seat, while those to the rear enjoy a peaceful outlook over our private walled garden.
The aesthetic design and style of service has been influenced by our Scottish roots and wide travels, incorporating materials such as slate, wood, glass and stone with warmth, generosity and sincerity.
Key design touches include period features, an eclectic mix of contemporary furniture and modern Scottish artwork.
Food & Beverages : Food plays a big part to our success at 94DR Guesthouse with full gourmet breakfast (Paul is a trained chef and creates a daily changing breakfast menu using the finest and freshest local ingredients) Together with use of laidback lounge and breakfast room.
Why not start with freshly baked granola with daily changing homemade compote e.g. fresh plum and ginger, natural yoghurt and honey - main course Daily Specials start from Eggs Benedict through to amazing vegetarian homemade pancakes with feta and fresh Thyme - it's a reason to come down in the morning...

94 Dalkeith Road is a splendid Victorian town house and part of the Blackett Conservation Area. Located in Edinburgh's vibrant Southside a short 15 / 20 min walk from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh's medieval Old Town, The Georgian New Town and Edinburgh's array of attractions, art gallery's and many wonderful restaurants & bars.
Us is we, Paul Lightfoot and John MacEwan. Our friends call us Hog’s (high octane gay's) and if that means a loaded zest, a passion for fun, exuberance for life and love of good things then that's us. You will also get the chance to meet our dog, labradoodle Molli. Scots at home, we come from design/marketing and hospitality backgrounds, lived away, travelled a lot. 94DR is now our main home and we hope your home too during your stay.
Our vision for 94DR comes from lots of experiences and cues it's things we'd enjoy and relish, with the service we like to receive - we hope you'll feel the same. Quality, humour, unpretentiousness, and relaxation are our watchwords.

By Car
Directions for approaching 94DR are as follows:
From West: via M8, A8, take A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exit A7 City Centre to Cameron Toll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx. 1 mile and 94DR is situated on Left Hand side.
Alternatively access MW via Edinburgh City Centre as follows: via M8 (City Bypass North), M9, A8, M90 ñ signs City Centre then Corstorphine, Haymarket, Lothian Road, Meadows, Dalkeith Road (Commonwealth Pool) and 94DR is situated approx 0.5 mile down hill on Right Hand Side.
From East: M1/A1 - take signs for Forth Bridge / Airport to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exist A7 City Centre to Cameron Toll roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx 1 mile and 94DR is situated on Left Hand Side.
Alternatively stay on A1 (bypass signs for Forth Bridge) and take for City Centre / Leith to exit sign posted Craigmiller /Musselburgh (B&Q, Wickes and Fort Kinnaird Shopping Centre can be seen from road just before exit) At roundabout, left, over roundabout, and stay on main road through shopping centre to Cameron Toll Roundabout; go right around roundabout (4th exit) onto Dalkeith Road (A7) and 94DR is aprox 1 mile up on Left Hand Side.
From South: From M64/Carlisle/Bigger/Peebles join A720 at Junction (sign posted for City Bypass South) to Sheriff Hall Roundabout. take exit A7 City Centre to Cameron Toll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx 1 mile and 94DR is situated on Left Hand side.
From North: M90 via Forth Bridge, sign posted Edinburgh City Centre (A90) Queensferry Road, Queensferry Street, Melville Street, Shandwick Place, Lothian Road, Meadows, Dalkeith Road (Commonwealth Pool) and 94DR is situated approx 0.25 mile down hill on Right Hand Side.
From North: M9 /A8 - take A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall Roundabout, take exit A7 City Centre to Cameron Toll Roundabout and follow round under railway bridge, then first left onto Dalkeith Road (A7) for approx 1 mile and 94DR is situated on Left Hand side.
If you travel by Bus:
Bus numbers to 94DR should read: 14, 21, 33 (Lothian Regional Transport) or 86 (First Bus).
If you travel by Air:
The Edinburgh Airport is located to the west of the city, approximately 10 miles from 94DR. Taxi journey time is approximately 25 minutes and will cost approximately £15. Alternatively, there is an inexpensive and frequent bus service to the city centre, approx £3.50 from which a local bus can be caught (see travel by bus above).
If you travel by Train:
The 94DR is situated on Dalkeith Road. There are two train stations in Edinburgh - Waverley and Haymarket. Taxis are available from both stations. If you prefer to walk, Haymarket station is about 25 minutes' walk and Waverley is about 15 minutes' walk. Alternatively catch a bus (see above)

Important Information : Please remember that we have three private parking spaces, and additionally there is plenty free off street parking in nearby roads.
Also by law 94DR is a smoke free space.
Please note a 2% surcharge is added for credit cards and 4% added for those paying with American Express credit cards.
Cancelation Policy : Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.
All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
