Short description : This large, elegant Georgian-villa guest house has a central location in the Newington area, close to the city centre and 5 minutes from Arthur’s Seat hill.
The Mayville offers private parking and spacious accommodation with period features. Many city attractions are within walking distance and plenty of restaurants, bars, shops are nearby.
There a variety of rooms available from large spacious en suite family rooms to twin/double en suite rooms, all decorated to a high standard. Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room.
Travel Information : By Public Transport
From Waverley station, Edinburgh:
Take the bus on Princess Street towards Newington. Ask the driver to stop at the beginning of Minto Street. Bus numbers: 3,5,7,8,29,31,37,49 or 47.
From the Airport:
Take the bus number 100 until Princess Street, then follow the same information as above.
By Car
From the West:
- Via the M8 or A8, take the A720 City Bypass South for several miles to Sheriff Hall roundabout.
- Take exit A7 City Centre to the Cameron Toll roundabout and follow signs for the city centre.
- This will take you onto an Avenue with progressively different names: Craigmillar Park, Mayfield Gardens, and Minto Street. The guest house is at 5 Minto Street.
From the East:
- Take the M1/A1 and follow signs for Forth Bridge/Airport to Sheriff Hall Roundabout.
- Take exit A7 for the city centre to the Cameron Toll roundabout. Then follow directions as above.
Region Information : The staff can recommend walking tours around the guest house.
Within 3 and 10 minutes’ walk you will find: University of Edinburgh's Pollock Halls of Residence, the National e-Science Centre, Scottish Parliament, the Commonwealth Pool, Historic Scotland Headquarters, the Salisbury Centre, the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Meadows, Queens Hall, Holyrood Park, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Festival Theatre.
Between 10 and 25 minutes’ walk are: the University of Edinburgh Old College, the National Library of Scotland (Main), University of Edinburgh George Square and Kings buildings, the Royal Mile, St Giles, Edinburgh Castle, Dynamic Earth, Palace of Holyrood, Princes Street Gardens, the National Gallery of Scotland and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
Food & Beverages : The price will include a full continental breakfast buffet. A variety of delicious cooked vegetarian breakfasts are available, as are specialities of French pancakes and omelettes.
Important Information : Reservations for stays during public holiday periods, rugby weekends or during August must be for a minimum of 3 nights.
Cancelation Policy : Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
Children and Extra Bed Policy: All children are welcome.

All older children or adults are charged GBP 40.00 per night and person for extra beds.
